Norwood: Our Pioneering Days
Norwood began with one man’s dream …
… the dream of a small cabin nestled in the woods by the shore of a quiet lake.
But lumber prices and portable sawmill prices were both way out of reach. Norwood founder, Peter Dale, didn’t give up – he looked for some way to make his dream a reality.
His answer? Build his own band sawmill. Strong, reliable, accurate, and affordable – Bringing these qualities together in one sawmill was uncharted territory. For two years, he designed, tested and overcame hurdles – he invented novel designs, adopted innovative technology, and applied simple yet effective mechanical concepts in unique ways. Starting from scratch, the first Norwood LumberMate and, with it, a revolution in portable sawmilling were born. That was nearly 20 years ago.
Since then, the dreams of thousands of Norwood families all over the world have come true.
